Gerard Cairns received his Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Optometry from Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland in 1995 followed by membership to the College of Optometrists, UK in 1997. After several years in private practice, Dr Cairns accepted a position as Principal Optometrist and Research Fellow in Ophthalmology at the University of Auckland, NZ and received his PhD in Ophthalmology in 2005. The same year, he joined Bausch +Lomb in Rochester, NY as Manager of Global Medical Affairs in Vision Care and for seven years steered medical device research and development. 
Dr Cairns has also attained a practicing licence for the United States graduating top of his class. He has had multiple publications and has presented to many societies in the eye care and education fields. 

In 2012, Dr Cairns seized a very exciting opportunity by founding ClinROC, LLC, Clinical Insights and Solutions. As a specialist in Medical, Clinical and Scientific Affairs, ClinROC, LLC is looking forward to providing informed consulting services to medical device manufacturers and the broader eye care industry.
